Pier One Dining Room Tables

Pier One Dining Room Tables

We are coming up on 1 year of owning the Pier 1 Dining Table. Our family has gotten enough use out of it now that I feel confident leaving a review! We own the Pier 1 bradding table in the stonewash natural stain, 84″ , and we eat on it between 1 and 3 times a day.

My New Pier 1 Dining Table: The Bradding Table in Natural Stonewash

Remember how excited I was last year when I found this Pier 1 dining table for this room? Such a great price- I caught it on sale and paid less than n$700 for it.

One day on a whim, I dragged the Pier 1 kitchen table from the dining room to the breakfast nook "just to see".pier 1 bradding table in a kitchen

I love it in here. I love the natural stain, I love the size – big enough to fit 8 and still be comfortable. And I loved the price!

Our family of 6 has eaten on this table between 1 and 3 times a day now. It's been about 6 months since we moved it into the kitchen.

My Experience With Our Pier 1 Dining Table: The Good and The Bad

Before buying the Pier 1 Bradding Table, I had never purchased anything from that store. So this was a first for me and I was slightly nervous.

So in general, it's held up fairly well but with some issues. No chipping, no scratches, no swelling, the wood is all solid. It looks okay on a day to day basis. I clean it with a wet rag or just Seventh Generation wipes, and then I dry it quickly with a dry dish cloth. Sometimes I can see the marks from where I clean it, I'm not sure why. It just leaves a little wash wipe on the wood.

My kids have played with their toy cars at this table, dragged heavy plates across the wood top, etc. There are no big scratches or dents.

Look at that pretty trestle! It looks great from afar. But when I get up close sometimes I can see the marks from cleaning it.

Watch my 30 second video I included to see how the table looks in "real life"!

I was looking carefully at the table top when taking photos and noticed signs of wear on the top I had not noticed before. The wood stain is ever so slightly uneven in spots. When I inspected it further I remembered where I scrubbed dried play dough off one day it's lighter underneath. I don't love that because a new table should stand up all kinds of washing!

And in a few other areas it looks like the stain is uneven.

Update: See Our Kitchen With Our New White Kitchen Table Here

I looked through the reviews of the Pier 1 Bradding Dining Table before I bought it.  It was surprisingly good, but there are a few people complaining of water rings.

I planned on putting down food safe poly or a wax to protect the top. But life's been busy, there are other priorities, and I actually didn't think it was needed.

It's not in our habit to leave dishes or food sitting out though out the day. But, there are a lot of us and my kids eat sticky things, spill their juice, and leave messes like everyone else. We only use placemats when the food is hot. Breakfast dishes typically sit on the table until I am able to get all the kids off to school and shower.

I regret that decision of not protecting the wood now on our Pier 1 dining table. But, it doesn't look bad- just not new anymore. And that chunky trestle is so pretty! I feel just okay with the table over all, albeit disappointed when I inspected it to find little inconsistencies in the top.

Would I Recommend Buying This Pier 1 Dining Table?

Overall, I would give the Pier 1 Bradding table a solid B-.

I would recommend putting down some kind of protectant on the table. I have done it before, and it doesn't take too long. Usually, it smells bad and the table has to dry for a little while, but that's it. Nothing complicated.

I love that it looks like some other expensive tables that go for three times the price! The natural stain is such a nice medium tone- not too grey, not too orangey. It fits 8 comfortably, but we squeezed 10 in a few times when my kids had friends over.

This table is versatile because it can go traditional, rustic, farmhouse or contemporary. It isn't too formal for a kitchen nook, but it's nice enough to work in a dining room.

The price is right at $800, and Pier 1 often puts this on sale. I can't remember how much I paid but I want to say it was around $650. Definitely buy it on sale!

Pros And Cons of the Pier 1 Bradding Table:

Pros:

  • For a table this size, and this good looking, the price is amazing. I couldn't find any other tables I liked as much in this price range.
  • It has a versatile style, so it could be farm house, or contemporary, or coastal. This fits in well in a dining room or a kitchen! I have a mix of styles in my home and this fits right in
  • The selection of the stains of wood are great. They offer several. I love the look of natural wood
  • Durable, holds up well, no loose screws

Cons:

  • The finish doesn't seem great. Just okay.
  • I can see wash marks after cleaning it
  • The top might need a protectant if you have a big family or if it gets heavy use
